Dutch VC makes first Nordic splash with €4m bet on Finnish weather tech startup

Finnish AI weather firm Skyfora has bagged €4m from Dutch investor Lumo Labs and Danish Ugly Duckling Ventures, marking Lumo's first foray into the Nordic tech scene.

Finnish startup Skyfora has developed a patented GNSS solution that transforms existing mobile towers into high-resolution weather sensors without the need for additional hardware. The tech also creates a fresh revenue stream for mobile operators—a clear win-win.

"As extreme weather events become more common due to climate change, accurate forecasts are more important than ever," says Fredrik Borgström, CEO of Skyfora.
