Hitting the breaks: VC funding of European mobility startups drops by 30 percent

The level of venture capital investment into European mobility startups dropped by 30 percent in 2024, according to a new report. But the sector’s potential remains "immense", with autonomous vehicles drawing an increased level of interest.
European VC investors hit the breaks in 2024 when it comes to mobility startups – although self-driving vehicles remain a hot item.
VC funding into the mobility sector – which includes electric vehicles and shared transportation solutions – fell to about €5.8b in 2024. That is a 30 percent drop from the previous year and more than a 50 percent decrease compared to the peak years of 2021 and 2022.
