H&M's sustainability chief in major interview: 'We will reach our goals'

The most common question Leyla Ertur, head of sustainability at fashion giant H&M, gets is whether it's really possible to combine high volumes, low prices and sustainability.

Her answer is yes – but the business model must become circular and they must decouple their growth from emissions. To succeed fully, their investments in new innovations must come through.

"All of this has to work," she says in a major interview with Impact Loop.

It's the actual production of H&M's clothes that accounts for the fashion giant's largest environmental impact, and that's where the transformation primarily needs to happen, according to the company's sustainability strategy.

That message is repeated when Impact Loop meets H&M's sustainability manager Leyla Ertur at the headquarters in Stockholm for an interview.
