At the same time as the EU is introducing stricter rules on textile waste, German textile recycle startup Eden has raised €18m to build a new plant in Münster.
The textile and clothing industry is one of the dirtiest industries in the world. Just 0.3 per cent of textile materials come from recycled sources, according to a study of the fashion industry by global impact organisation Circle Economy, backed by The H&M Foundation.
One of the impact firms trying to solve that problem is German startup Eeden, which is developing technology to recycle textiles. According to the company, the technology is capable of processing complex blended materials.
