Greeniron raises €10.5m to make steel green – Wallenberg family becomes largest owner

Greeniron, which can produce pure steel and iron in a more climate-friendly way, has raised €10.5 million in new capital.

Additionally, the Wallenberg family is converting €9.3 million of convertible loans into shares, making them the largest owner of the company, Impact Loop can reveal.

Greeniron has developed a technology that uses hydrogen to produce pure steel and iron from residual products. The result is a green alternative that makes the by-product of the process water instead of carbon dioxide.

The company, founded by father and son Hans and Edward Murray and with former Centre Party leader Annie Lööf on the board, has been working since last autumn to "warm up" its production at the plant built in Sandviken.
