Seaya’s new fund Novo will be jointly run between London and Madrid with a new partner heading up its UK operations.

Madrid-based VC group Seaya Ventures is set to open a new London office after raising €600m for its latest European startup fund.

Called Seaya Novo, the new fund will be jointly led by the firm’s co-founder and managing partner Beatriz González and Vinoth Jayakumar, who will be operating out of the new London location, first reported by Bloomberg.

Jayakumar has been active in the UK investment scene, previously serving as a partner at the London-based VC Molten Ventures.

Seaya Novo has been backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) via its Tech Champions Initiative, which has provided half the total capital with additional funding from institutional investors and family offices.

Impact Loop has contacted Seaya for more information on the fund’s backers and target investments.

“Seaya Nova is the natural evolution of what we have built over 13 years,” said González in a statement.

Seaya was founded in 2013 and has since become one of Spain’s most prominent investors.

Through its Andromeda fund alone, Seaya has backed 11 impact-driven businesses including British robotic waste management company Recycleye and Danish green energy analytics group Aegir Insights.
