'The genie's out of the bottle': New founder-led $150m climate fund bets big on AI infrastructure

Transition Ventures has closed a second fund with an updated thesis.

The London firm is backing AI chips and small nuclear reactors alongside more conventional climate plays.

"The genie's out of the bottle – now what we need to do now is ensure the AI revolution is as sustainable as possible," partner Kristian Branaes tells Impact Loop.

Transition Ventures claims its first funds have outperformed most venture funds – not just climate ones. And now it has closed a second, with an investment focus that looks to be keeping in tune with the moment.

"I can't share numbers, but our returns would look good in comparison with any venture fund, not just in the climate space,” partner Kristian Branaes tells Impact Loop over video call. “Our LPs are not looking to invest in an impact fund necessarily – they're coming to us because we're delivering."
