Danish VC Unconventional Ventures has placed its latest bet on a startup growing a replacement for cement out of fungi.

Conviction in the founder, Line Kloster Pedersen, drove the deal as much as the science.

"She understands the science at a level that very few founders do," founding partner Thea Messel tells Impact Loop.

Unconventional Ventures and Denmark's EIFO have co-led a €3.34m seed round in Visibuilt, a Copenhagen startup replacing cement and bitumen with a binder grown from fungi.
