A syndicate of impact investors and family office capital has backed a company turning marine infrastructure into underwater habitat.

"They are well-positioned to meet demand," says Cristin Pacifico, vice president of investments at Builders Vision.

Two heavyweight impact foundations have teamed up to invest in a startup creating new habitats for marine life.

Builders Vision, the investment and philanthropy platform backed by Lukas Walton, heir to the Walmart fortune, is leading a $14m round in ECOncrete, a New York-headquartered company that engineers biodiversity directly into marine concrete.
