Norrsken Barcelona appoints Rocio Alcocer as new managing director

After playing a key role as chief operation officer during Norrsken Barcelona’s first year of operations, Rocío Alcocer Magirena has been appointed managing director of the Spanish hub for impact startups.

Norrsken Barcelona announced the appointment on Wednesday and said Alcocer ”has been instrumental in shaping our success and driving the growth of our first year.”

The Spanish branch is part of Swedish non-profit Norrsken Foundation, which was set up by Klarna co-founder Niklas Adalberth and also has a hub for startups in Stockholm.

The Barcelona hub already has more than 1,000 members and is located in a beachfront building with meeting rooms and work spaces spread out over four floors.

”With her forward-thinking vision, Rocio is posed to lead this exciting new chapter of Norrsken's growth in Spain and beyond,” the foundation said in a statement on LinkedIn.

It added that the hub’s co-founder Marc Jordana Soldevila is set to continue in an active role, ”helping to expand the footprint of our impact mission and nurturing key partner relationships and stakeholders in the ecosystem.”

Alcocer is a former founder who helped create Muoki, a Spanish online marketplace for used furniture, and was also CEO of Tapp Water, which provides solutions for sustainable water at home.
