Fresh venture launches from much-hyped polyester-recycler Syre
The Vargas and H&M-backed impact company Syre, which aims to recycle polyester on a large scale, recruited fashion veteran Camilla Skjønning Jørgensen as commercial development director last year.

Now she is stepping down to start her own business – in the same industry.

After having left Danish clothing giant Bestseller for the much-hyped Swedish polyester recycling company Syre just seven months ago, Camilla Skjønning Jørgensen is now leaving the company to start her own business.

"On April 1, I’m stepping into a new challenge: Building a neutral, industry-wide platform backed by Invest FWD," Jørgensen writes on LinkedIn.
She writes that the platform will "be designed to connect innovators, brands, supply chain partners, and solution providers – aggregating volume, scaling solutions, and proving the business case for transformation."
When Impact Loop asked for more details about the new company, Jørgensen responded that she cannot reveal anything more until April, when she has left Syre.
"Our first spin-out!"
Although Jørgensen is leaving her role at Syre, she will continue to collaborate with them as an important partner on the journey ahead.
"The industry has long called for innovation, preferred materials, next-generation solutions and circularity to become the norm. But change does not happen through words – it happens through action," she writes.
Dennis Nobelius, CEO of Syre, commented on the transition in his own post on LinkedIn. He writes that Jørgensen has been working to identify how the company can collaborate with partners in the supply chain, which led to thoughts around a digital platform.
"And where did we land? We landed in that the platform idea is best executed by a neutral part. All in line with Camilla's recommendation," writes Nobelius.
He continues:
"So, strange – internal work resulting in a new startup run and led by Camilla! I wish Camilla all the best and we will support the new endeavor to the best of our ability! Our first spin out!"
The new company is backed by Invest Fwd, the investment arm of Jørgensen's previous employer Bestseller.
